Yancy Medeiros’ Win Over Yves Edwards Changed to No Contest After Failed Drug Test

YancyMedeiros_HeadshotUFC lightweight Yancy Medeiros knocked out Yves Edwards in the opening round at UFC Fight for the Troops 3, but the outcome has been changed to a No Contest after the fighter failed a post-fight drug test.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship released a statement on Tuesday addressing the situation.

“UFC lightweight Yancy Medeiros tested positive for marijuana metabolites following his bout against Yves Edwards at UFC Fight for the Troops 3 in Ft. Campbell, KY on Nov. 6, 2013.

“He was informed that his positive test violated the UFC Fighter Conduct Policy and Promotional Agreement with Zuffa, LLC. He agreed to and served a 90-day suspension retroactive to the event, and must pass a drug test before receiving clearance to compete again. The outcome of his bout against Edwards was changed to a no contest,” read the statement.

Instead of a 10-1 professional mixed martial arts record, Medeiros’ official record now reads 9-1, 1 NC.
