CHICAGO – MMAjunkie was on scene for today’s official fighter weigh-ins for “UFC on FOX: Henderson vs. Thomson,” where all 22 fighters on the lineup made weight for Saturday’s card.
In the main event, former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) takes on former Strikeforce champ Josh Thomson (20-5 MMA, 3-1 UFC) in a five-round fight. Both made weight without issue, though Henderson needed the towel to make 156 pounds. Thomson has been promised a title shot against champion Anthony Pettis if he upsets Henderson.
In the co-main event, heavyweights Gabriel Gonzaga (16-7 MMA, 11-6 UFC) and Stipe Miocic (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) will clash. Gonzaga has won back-to-back fights by knockout and four of his past five since returning to the UFC. Miocic is coming off a sweep of the judges’ scorecards against Roy Nelson. Gonzaga weighed in at 258 pounds, while Miocic was 245.
Also on the main card, Donald Cerrone (21-6 MMA, 8-3 UFC) meets Adriano Martins (25-6 MMA, 1-0 UFC) in a lightweight bout, and Darren Elkins (17-3 MMA, 7-2 UFC) takes on Jeremy Stephens (22-9 MMA, 9-8 UFC) at featherweight.
Today’s weigh-ins took place at the historic Chicago Theatre on State Street in downtown Chicago. Chicago’s United Center hosts Saturday’s event. The four-fight main card airs on FOX at 8 p.m. ET following six prelims on FOX Sports 1 (5 p.m. ET) and an early fight on UFC Fight Pass (4:30 p.m. ET).
