Diego Sanchez Signs New Eight-Fight Deal, Expected to Fight at UFC 171 in Dallas

Diego SanchezDiego Sanchez is still living the dream. He signed a new eight-fight contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, according a report on UFC Tonight.

While he’s been immersed in a Twitter war with Conor McGregor, Sanchez isn’t likely to fight him anytime soon. Although McGregor has been calling out Sanchez and several other fighters, the Irishman is expected to be sidelined until mid-2014 while healing from surgery for a knee injury.

Sanchez, meanwhile, has his sights set on UFC 171, which takes place on March 15 in Dallas. And, he already has an opponent in mind.

If Joe Lauzon is successful in his fight against Mac Danzig at UFC on Fox 9 this weekend, UFC Tonight reported that Sanchez would like to face Lauzon in Dallas.

Sanchez is coming off of a Fight of the Night performance at UFC 166 in October, although he was on the losing end of a unanimous decision against former Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez.

UFC 171 is currently slated for a headlining bout with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones putting his belt on the line against Glover Teixeira.
