With late prelim scratch, World Series of Fighting 7 lineup now complete with nine fights

wsof-title-belt.jpgWith Brazilian Marcus Vinicius (9-6) forced to withdraw from this weekend’s World Series of Fighting 7, his preliminary bout with Ryan Dickson (6-1) has been scratched, and the card will carry on with nine fights.

MMAjunkie today confirmed the change, in addition to another late substitution as Gabriel Solorio (9-6) has replaced Josh Machan (11-4) and will now meet Shawn Albrecht (9-5).

Featuring the promotion’s first-ever featherweight title fight with Georgi Karakhanyan meeting Lance Palmer, WSOF 7 takes place Saturday at PNE Agrodome in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

The evening’s four-fight main card airs ON NBC Sports Network following five preliminary bouts that stream on MMAjunkie.com.

Dickson is a 24-year-old welterweight prospect with an impressive 6-1 mark that includes six stoppage wins. However, his most important victory to date took place earlier this year outside of the cage, as he defeated testicular cancer that was identified during the medicals required for his licensing process.

Dickson was actually an injury replacement for Ryan Chiappe (10-8), who was originally expected to meet Vinicius.

Meanwhile, Vinicus is a Brazilian native now residing in Canada. A capoeira stylist, “Ossoduro” is 4-2 in his past six fights and boasts seven stoppage wins among his nine career victories. A timetable for his return was not established.

Albrecht makes his WSOF debut on the strength of a two-fight winning streak that includes two knockout wins. He now meets Solorio, who is 4-1 in his past five fights after suffering through a three-fight losing streak.

The finalized WSOF 7 lineup includes:

MAIN CARD

  • Georgi Karakhanyan vs. Lance Palmer - for inaugural WSOF featherweight title
  • Elvis Mutapcic vs. Jesse Taylor - middleweight tournament semifinal
