Fans invited to Bellator 106's open workouts and weigh-ins


pat-curran-11.jpgBellator MMA has invited fans to this week’s media gatherings ahead of Saturday’s Bellator 106 event on Spike TV.

Bellator 106 takes place Saturday at Long Beach Arena in California. The main card recently moved from pay-per-view to Spike TV, and the prelims stream on Spike.com.

Ahead of Saturday’s show, fans have an opportunity to meet the fighters at a pair of media events.

Open workouts take place Thursday at Long Beach Arena. Doors open at 3 p.m. ET (noon PT local time) with main-card competitors Michael Chandler, Eddie Alvarez, Muhammed Lawal, Emanuel Newton, Pat Curran and Daniel Straus.

Weigh-ins then take place Friday at the same venue. The first fighter is on the scale at 5 p.m. PT. In addition to all the card’s fighters, the weigh-ins include announcer Michael C. Williams, emcee Jimmy Smith and Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney.

The full Bellator 106 card includes:

MAIN CARD (Spike TV, 9 p.m. ET)

  • Michael Chandler vs. Eddie Alvarez – for lightweight title
  • Muhammed Lawal vs. Emanuel Newton – for interim light heavyweight title
  • Pat Curran vs. Daniel Straus – for featherweight title
  • Mike Bronzoulis vs. Joe Riggs – “Fight Master” tourney final
  • Mike Richman vs. Akop Stepanyan

PRELIMINARY CARD (Spike.com, 7 p.m. ET)
