Of all the winners of “The Ultimate Fighter,” John Dodson may have been the one who had the most electrifying post-victory celebration.
Of course, Dodson’s first-round TKO of T.J. Dillashaw wasn’t that bad, either.
In the bantamweight finals of Season 14 of the show, Dodson stopped Dillashaw less than two minutes into their fight. He caught Dillashaw with a left that buckled his knees, and then followed up with more punches on the ground before Herb Dean stepped in. Then Dodson did some leaping backflips off the cage as part of his victory celebration.
Right after the win, Dodson dropped back to flyweight from 135 pounds, where he competed on the show. And two wins later, he found himself fighting Demetrious Johnson for the UFC’s 125-pound title. He lost that fight this past January, but now Dodson is ready to return.
Dodson (14-6 MMA, 3-1 UFC) meets Darrell Montague (13-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) to open the pay-per-view main card of UFC 166, which takes place on Saturday at Toyota Center in Houston.
