UFC 164 results and photos: Magnus Cedenblad quickly taps Jared Hamman

MILWAUKEE – Jared Hamman followed heavy strikes with takedown attempts against Magnus Cedenblad. Unfortunately, the Swedish fighter was waiting to counter.

Cedenblad quickly seized opportunity and grabbed Hamman’s neck to set up a quick finish.

The middleweight bout opened up today’s UFC 164 event at Milwaukee’s Bradley Center. It streamed on Facebook ahead of additional prelims on FOX Sports 1 and a main card on pay-per-view.

Hamman landed the first significant blow of the fight with a heavy leg kick. He followed it by closing distance and looking to take Cedenblad down, but was unsuccessful.

A second attempt prompted Cedenblad to jump and lock up a guillotine choke. The two spilled to the mat, and Hamman tried to escape, but Cedenblad quickly finished the choke by gaining mount and using his legs to crank Hamman’s neck.

Hamman was in the process of tapping when he went unconscious, and referee Al Wichgers stepped in at the 0:57 mark of the first frame.

“A win like that always feels good,” Cedenblad said. “Finishing a guy that quick is always exciting and something I’m always looking for. My last UFC fight didn’t go the way I wanted, but I think this one makes up for it and shows that I belong in the UFC with the best. The pressure to perform is always on when you’re fighting at this level, but that’s what drives me to compete.”

Cedenblad (11-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) gets his first UFC win after a second-round submission loss to Francis Carmont in his debut. Hamman (13-6 MMA, 2-5 UFC) now has lost three straight and likely faces a pink slip.
