Video: Cage Warriors 58's Chris Scott itching for redemption after April loss

On paper, Chris Scott‘s fight against Pavel Kusch on Saturday should end with a submission.

Scott (6-2) has all six of his wins by tapout. And Kusch? Well, he’s 13 for 13, himself. The two meet on the main card of Cage Warriors 58, which takes place at Olympisk Arena in Grozny, the capital city of Chechnya.

Both fighters will be looking to rebound from losses earlier this year. But don’t be fooled by the 100 percent success rate of submission wins between the two. If Scott has to win with his hands, he’d gladly do so.

“Coming off a loss, I’m not worried with how I win,” Scott told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). “Stand and trade, get to the floor – I just want to get in there and fight again. I just want to get in there and prove that.”

In April, at Cage Warriors 53, Scott had his five-fight win streak snapped by Mats Nilsson, who took a unanimous decision from him.

But despite the loss, Scott, from northeast England, said fighting Nilsson gave him a good indication of just where he is in the sport.

“My last fight, it was a good yardstick,” Scott said. “Mats is an excellent fighter. He fought Tor Troeng, who’s in the UFC. He fought Tommy Speer, who was in the UFC recently. He’s had some tough fights, and I took him the distance. Now I want to take it farther and take the positives and build on that and prove it against another good European opponent.”

Against Kusch, like with Nilsson, he’ll give up a little experience. And Kusch, from the neighboring Ukraine, also should have the crowd working in his favor in Chechnya.

That shows just how badly Scott wanted to redeem his loss to Nilsson.

“I was looking to get back as quick as I could (after the loss),” he said. “There a few shows that I was looking to get on, but there were issues. Cage Warriors offered this in Chechnya, and I couldn’t turn down an offer like that, really.”

And besides, Kusch, with back-to-back losses, may be feeling some pressure. Especially since he was stopped in consecutive fights.

The way Scott figures it, no reason he can’t make it three in a row.

“I know he’s coming off a KO loss, so I’m hoping to take advantage of that,” he said.
