Sarah Kaufman off UFC Fight Night 27 card, will be rescheduled

sarah-kaufman-14.jpgAfter losing opponent Sara McMann (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) earlier this month and with a replacement unavailable, Sarah Kaufman (16-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has been pulled from next week’s UFC Fight Night 27 lineup.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed the bout with sources close to the event, who said the former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion will be rescheduled for a later event.

UFC Fight Night 27 takes place Aug. 28 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. McMann vs. Kaufman was slated for the event’s FOX Sports 1-televised main card.

A bout from the FOX Sports 2 or Facebook prelims is likely to be promoted to the main card to take its place.

Kaufman recently fought for Invicta FC before the UFC scooped her up. She earned a split-decision win over Leslie Smith in the all-women’s promotion, which was her first bout after Ronda Rousey submitted her a year ago in a Strikeforce title fight.

An Olympic silver medalist in wrestling, McMann signed with Strikeforce in 2012 for a debut against now-UFC fighter Liz Carmouche, but the event was later canceled. She went on to compete for Invicta FC, where she was slated to fight for the promotion’s inaugural bantamweight title before ultimately signing with the UFC, where she defeated Sheila Gaff in her debut at UFC 159. The reason for her UFC Fight Night 27 withdrawal wasn’t disclosed.

The latest UFC Fight Night 27 card now includes:

MAIN CARD (FOX Sports 1, 8 p.m. ET)

PRELIMINARY CARD (FOX Sports 2, 6 p.m. ET)

PRELIMINARY CARD (Facebook, 5 p.m. ET)
