Biogenesis PED Scandal Reportedly Reaches into the Mixed Martial Arts World

Syringe_NeedleMajor League Baseball’s Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun may be grabbing the lion’s share of the headlines in regards to the recent Biogenesis clinic performance-enhancing substance scandal, but don’t think the mixed martial arts world isn’t affected.

Porter Fischer, the man who blew the whistle on Biogenesis and its founder Tony Bosch, told ESPN’s Outside the Lines that the high-profile ballplayers weren’t the only athletes aided by Bosch and Biogenesis. He indicated that there were also athletes from the NBA, NCAA, professional boxing, tennis and MMA getting assistance from Bosch to pharmaceutically enhance their athletic performances.

Fischer, however, fell short of naming any of the other athletes involved.

Fischer was a weight-loss client of Bosch’s before becoming involved on the business end, offering his services as a marketing professional, and then investing in the company.

He says he took the documents that prove the allegations for safe keeping at the insistence of another Biogenesis employee, and was surprised when he found out what was transpiring and to what degree.

“In just the four years that I know, it’s got to be well over a hundred, easy,” Fischer told Outside the Lines, noting the number of clients involved. “It’s almost scary to think about how many people have gone through (Bosch’s treatments) and how long he’s gotten away with this.”
