UFC on Fox 8 Fight Card Takes Another Hit, Yves Edwards Now Faces Daron Cruickshank

Yves-Edwards-UFC-131-Pre_0083The UFC on Fox 8 fight card is quickly becoming the Rocky of UFC events. It keeps getting knocked down, but then getting right back up before the 10-count.

Following three previous changes in a 24-to-48-hour period, the UFC on Fox 8 card has also suffered a hit to the Yves Edwards vs. Spencer Fisher bout.

UFC officials on Thursday announced that Fisher is out of the fight. They again have a replacement at the ready, however, with Daron Cruickshank stepping in to face Edwards.

UFC on Fox 8 takes place July 27 at the Key Arena in Seattle.

Cruickshank (12-3) made his way to the Octagon via the fifteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter. He won his first two bouts for the promotion, but lost his most recent fight. John Makdessi scored a unanimous decision victory over Cruickshank at UFC 158 in Montreal in December.

Cruickshank suffered a severely broken nose in the fight. He underwent surgery in May, but is ready to get back at it and got the short-notice call to face one of the most experienced lightweight fighters on the planet.

Edwards (42-19-1) began his fighting career more than a decade prior to Cruickshank, so the youngster has a lot to overcome.

Edwards only left the UFC the first time he fought for the promotion because they temporarily disbanded the lightweight division. He returned in 2010 with marginal success.

The Texan has gone 4-3 during his current tenure, and is coming off of a loss to Isaac Valle-Flagg at UFC 156 in February.
