Dillard Pegg was a game opponent early on Friday. But it didn’t take long for Sergio Pettis to turn up the heat.
Pegg (5-2) worked a combination of kicks and well-intended strikes early against Pettis (8-0), the younger brother of UFC standout Anthony Pettis. Pegg took the main-event fight at Resurrection Fighting Alliance 8 on just 10 days’ notice when Jeff Curran pulled out.
But after Pettis ducked and dodged his way around, he slipped past a Pegg left and landed a right hand to the jaw that dropped the Ohioan to the canvas. Pettis pounced quickly and just a few shots on the ground later, he had a 51-second win and RFA’s first flyweight title.
The fight took place at The Rave/Eagles Club in Milwaukee, Wisc. The night’s main card aired on AXS TV.
