James Krause Steps In for Injured Isaac Vallie-Flagg at UFC 161 in Winnipeg

Donald Cerrone vs James Krause WEC 41Isaac Vallie-Flagg on Wednesday morning announced his withdrawal from a UFC 161 bout against Sam Stout.

UFC officials moved swiftly, however, and Wednesday afternoon announced that James Krause had agreed to step in and keep Stout on the Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, fight card.

Stout (20-8-1) has bounced between wins and losses lately. He enters the fight coming off of a split decision victory over Strikeforce veteran Caros Fodor at UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche in February.

Stout has been fighting for the UFC since 2006, and has fought several times for the promotion on his home turf in Montreal. This marks his first fight in Winnipeg, as it is also the UFC’s first trip to the city.

Krause (19-4) fought briefly under the Zuffa LLC umbrella in 2009, but lost both of his WEC bouts, to Donald Cerrone and Ricardo Lamas.

He has since a 9-2 run and enters the UFC Octagon for the first on the heels of a seven-fight winning streak.

Light heavyweight contenders Rashad Evans and Dan Henderson headline UFC 161 on June 15 at the MTS Centre after the original main event between Renan Barão and Eddie Wineland was derailed. Barão recently suffered an injury that forced him out of the fight.
