WSOF four-man torney will decide the promotions first middleweight champion

World Series of Fighting recently announced a four-man tournament will ultimately determine the organizations first middleweight champion.

The participating fighters are Jesse Taylor, Elvis Mutapcic, Dave Branch and Danillo Villefort.

The cage warrior middleweight champion since December 2012, Jesse Taylor, who holds a six-fight win streak now joins WSOF. In his most recent bout, May 4 at Cage Warriors 54, he faced John Philips who he submitted (guillotine choke) in round 1. The fighter was a cast member of SpikeTV’s ”The Ultimate Fighter 7”.

MFC champion Elvis Mutapcic has recently signed with the WSOF. He has won 10 of his 11 past fights and is now on a five-fight winning streak. He last took on Sam Alvey at MFC 36: Reality Check on February 15, winning by unanimous decision.

Dave Branch has fought in both UFC and Bellator, he signed with the WSOF in 2012 and debuted at World Series of Fighting 1 at November 3. Since joining WSOF he has had two decision wins, over Dustin Jacoby and Paul Filho.

Brazilian Danillo Villefort is a one-time UFC and WEC fighter. He recently signed with the WSOF and debuted on March 23 at World Series of Fighting 2 against Kris McRay and scored a split decision win.

The opening-round matchups haven’t been revealed, however, one bout will be at WSOF 4 on August 10 and the other at WSOF 5 in September.
