Dana White: Bryan Caraway to Receive Pat Healy’s UFC 159 Submission Bonus

It appears Pat Healy’s positive marijuana test will take a heavy toll on the fighter’s pocketbook.

Healy walked away from UFC 159 with “Fight of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” bonuses totaling $130,000. However, UFC President Dana White on Wednesday announced that Healy’s submission bonus will now go to Bryan Caraway instead after Healy tested positive for marijuana.

“It’s known up front that checks are held until everyone passes the drug test,” White wrote in a response to a Twitter follower. “[Bryan] Caraway gets the ‘SON’ now. Healy did himself dirty.”

It has not been confirmed if Healy’s “FOTN” and win bonuses will also be rescinded. Healy, 29, choked out the highly-regarded Jim Miller at UFC 159, which took place April 27 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Healy released a statement yesterday admitting his positive marijuana test and apologizing to Miller, as well as the UFC and his friends and family. Healy told Sherdog.com than he has been suspended for 90 days and that the victory will be changed to a no-contest, though Sherdog.com could not confirm that information with New Jersey State Athletic Control Board counsel Nick Lembo, who declined to comment yesterday.

Caraway now finds himself $65,000 richer courtesy of his third-round submission of Johnny Bedford. “Kid Lightning” has won four of his last five fights, with only a March 3 split decision loss to Takeya Mizugaki marring his record in that span.
