Marcus Davis Signs Long-Term Bellator Deal

Marcus Davis and Jeremy Stephens at UFC 125Former UFC fighter Marcus “Irish Hand Grenade” Davis has inked a long-term contract with Bellator MMA. He will take part in the promotion’s Season 9 lightweight tournament this fall.

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney announced the deal via Twitter on Friday night.

“Proud to officially announce @irishgrenade has signed a long-term deal w/@BellatorMMA,” wrote Rebney. “Class act & super exciting fighter. Fall LW tourney!”

Davis (21-9) has fought once for Bellator, although it didn’t go as well as anyone had hoped.

Midway through the opening round of his bout against Waachiim Spiritwolf at Bellator 93 in March, Davis launched a knee that landed below the belt. The errant blow, ruled unintentional, left Spiritwolf unable to continue and the fight was ruled a no contest.

Davis fought the majority of his career in UFC before being cut loose by the promotion in early 2011. He has since won four bouts and lost one in addition to the one no contest.
