Jason High Replaces John Hathaway, Meets Erick Silva at UFC on Fuel TV 10

Jason High will now face Erick Silva at UFC on Fuel TV 10, as High announced Thursday that he will replace John Hathaway at the June 8 event.

High (Pictured above) revealed his new booking on Twitter, though the UFC has yet to make an official announcement. UFC on Fuel TV 10 takes place at the Paulo Sarasate Gymnasium in Fortaleza, Brazil, and is headlined by a heavyweight rematch between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum. High was initially supposed to face Ildemar Alcantara during the prelims and did not specify why Hathaway was removed from the bill. It is currently unknown whether Alcantara will remain on the card.

High, 31, rides a seven-fight winning streak into his UFC return. “The Kansas City Bandit” made his one and only Octagon appearance in 2010, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Charlie Brenneman at Fight Night 21. High joined the Strikeforce roster the following year and posted three straight wins, outpointing Quinn Mulhern and Todd Moore before submitting Nate Moore with a guillotine choke in just 26 seconds last July at “Rockhold vs. Kennedy.”

Silva, 28, has lost two of his last three fights after going undefeated during the four years prior. Silva’s first Octagon loss was a controversial one, as he was disqualified for landing blows to the back of the head of Carlo Prater last year at UFC 142. Though Silva responded with a first-round stoppage of Brenneman, he was then outpointed by highly-regarded veteran Jon Fitch last October at UFC 153.
