Jon Tuck Injured, Bout with Norman Parke Scratched from UFC on Fox 7

A late injury to Jon Tuck has forced the Ultimate Fighting Championship to cancel the Guamanian’s planned collision with “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes” winner Norman Parke at Saturday’s UFC on Fox 7.

A bantamweight showdown between T.J. Dillashaw and Hugo Viana will take the place of Tuck-Parke on the FX-broadcast undercard. The evening’s main card airs live on the Fox network and is headlined by a lightweight title clash between reigning champion Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce king Gilbert Melendez.

Tuck, 28, has never lost as a professional, though “Super Saiyan” did fall via unanimous decision to Al Iaquinta in “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 15 qualifying round. The lightweight made his official UFC debut this past November, outpointing Chinese talent Tiequan Zhang at UFC on Fuel TV 6.

A 19-fight pro, Parke has won his last seven bouts. The Northern Irish fighter introduced himself to UFC fans as a member of “The Smashes” and advanced to the show’s lightweight finals, defeating Englishman Collin Fletcher on Dec. 15 at UFC on FX 6 to claim the “TUF” crown. The 26-year-old owns 12 of his 17 career wins by submission and has never been knocked out in seven years of competition.
