Castillo-Green set for UFC on FOX 8, Herman-Del Rosario headed to UFC 162

danny-castillo-15.jpgTwo more bouts have been added to the UFC’s summer slate.

Danny Castillo (15-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) and Bobby Green (20-5 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will meet at lightweight at UFC on FOX 8, and Shane Del Rosario (11-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) will welcome back Dave Herman (21-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) in a heavyweight bout at UFC 162. UFC officials on Thursday announced the bookings and also confirmed a welterweight bout at UFC on FOX 8 between Robbie Lawler (20-9 MMA, 5-3 UFC) and Tarec Saffiedine (14-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) first reported by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

UFC on FOX 8 takes place July 27 at KeyArena in Seattle. The main card will air on FOX following prelims on FX and Facebook. UFC 162 takes place July 6 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas with a main card on pay-per-view after FX and Facebook prelims.

Castillo in February took a unanimous decision from Paul Sass at UFC on FUEL TV 7 in London to get back in the win column after a knockout loss to Michael Johnson in October. That loss snapped a three-fight win streak for the Team Alpha Male fighter.

Green made his UFC debut in February and submitted Jacob Volkmann in the third round, picking up “Submission of the Night” in the process – and earning UFC President Dana White’s praise for how he came back after a questionable call by the referee. Before coming to the UFC, Green had a four-fight win streak in Strikeforce, including a pair of submissions.

Del Rosario will be looking to snap a two-fight losing skid. At UFC 146 this past May, he was stopped in the second round by Stipe Miocic with a TKO. And in December at the TUF 16 Finale, he was knocked out by Pat Barry in the second round. He joined the UFC after starting his career 11-0, including a 3-0 run in Strikeforce with three first-round stoppages.

Herman will most definitely have his job on the line against Del Rosario. The Indiana native has been stopped in three straight fights after winning his UFC debut nearly two years ago with a “Fight of the Night” stoppage of John-Olav Einemo at UFC 131. He was stopped by Stefan Struve in February 2012, was knocked out in 51 seconds by Roy Nelson at UFC 146 and was submitted by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 153 in October.

After that fight, he tested positive for marijuana metabolites and was suspended by the UFC and ordered to undergo rehab. As first reported by MMAjunkie.com earlier this week, he recently was cleared by the UFC to return. But with the three straight losses, a fourth would almost certainly result in a pink slip.
