Although he’s not up next for a welterweight title shot, Jake Ellenberger (29-6 MMA, 8-2 UFC) made a pretty compelling case in a dominant victory over former Strikeforce champ Nate Marquardt (32-12-2 MMA, 10-5 UFC).
Ellenberger picked up a violent first-round knockout in a pay-per-view main-card bout at UFC 158, which took place Saturday at Montreal’s Bell Centre.
Although Johny Hendricks will get the next shot at champ Georges St-Pierre’s belt, Ellenberger assured himself at least a title eliminator in his next bout. The fast-rising contender picked up one of his most meaningful wins yet with a crushing right hand that set up his eighth win in nine fights.
