UFC and Pride Champion Shogun Rua: My Dream is to beat Nogueira


A chat with former UFC and Pride Champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (21-7 MMA, 5-5 UFC) while under a training session at Kings MMA in Southern California. Shogun is set to face Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (21-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) in a rematch of their 2005 Pride match, which Shogun won via a decision. 

When asked if Lil Nog can handle the speed and power of Shogun, the former champion says that "everyone knows his game" and that he always is looking for the finish. Shogun was able to visit Kings MMA, home of Master Cordeiro, who took Shogun from a white belt, to a black belt as a student in Brazil.

Shogun, who has faced Lyoto Machida twice and Dan Henderson once as well, reflects on their recent fight and how although he respects Machida, Shogun feels his style is much different and more fan friendly. 

When asked about achieving goals and dreams in martial arts and in life Shogun reflects back on having won both the Pride and UFC titles, but says that now, his focus and dream is to beat Lil Nog in their upcoming fight.
