Gray Maynard-T.J. Grant, Abel Trujillo-Khabib Nurmagomedov Set for UFC 160

A pair of new lightweight contests has joined the growing UFC 160 fight bill, as Gray Maynard faces T.J. Grant and Abel Trujillo meets Khabib Nurmagomedov at the May 25 event.

The show takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a heavyweight title rematch between Cain Velasquez and Antonio Silva. Former heavyweight ruler Junior dos Santos will also appear on the bill, as “Cigano” locks horns with onetime Strikeforce king Alistair Overeem.

Maynard, 33, has not competed since June 22, when he took a split decision from Clay Guida at UFC on FX 4. The former two-time title challenger was then expected to face Joe Lauzon this past December but saw his return to the cage derailed by injury.

Grant is currently enjoying arguably the finest stretch of his six-year career, as the Canadian rides a four-fight Octagon winning streak into his clash with Maynard. Most recently, the 28-year-old ran through Matt Wiman, stopping “Handsome” with a violent flurry of punches and elbows last month at UFC on Fox 6.

Trujillo, 29, has won five straight fights heading into his showdown with Nurmagomedov. “Killa” made a successful Octagon debut on Dec. 8, finishing Marcus LeVesseur with knees to the body at UFC on Fox 5.

Just 24 years old, Nurmagomedov has never before tasted defeat as a mixed martial artist. “The Eagle” has posted three straight wins since joining the UFC last year, topping Kamal Shalorus and Gleison Tibau before finishing Thiago Tavares last month at UFC on FX 7.
