UFC on Fuel TV 9 Card Filling Up; Several Fights Announced

UFC SwedenThe Ultimate Fighting Championship has been hard at work filling the UFC on FUEL TV 9 fight card, amidst a flurry of announcements, promotion officials recently confirmed several more bouts added to the April 6 Swedish card.

In the middleweight division, Rhode Island’s “Filthy” Tom Lawlor (8-5-1) meets Holland’s Michael Kuiper (12-1).  Kuiper is 1-1 in the UFC.  He lost his promotional debut to Rafael Natal at UFC 143, but bounced back with a TKO finish of Jared Hamman at UFC 150 in August.

Lawlor has lost two of his last three outings and is coming off a split decision loss to Francis Carmont at UFC 154 in November.

In the welterweight division, Sweden’s Chris “The Kiss” Spang (5-1) will make his UFC debut against the Russin-born, Albuquerque-trained Adlan “The Wolf” Amagov.  Spang is a crossover from the defunct Strikeforce promotion.  He made his way up through the Strikeforce Challengers series. He is coming off a TKO win over Nah-Shon Burrell.

Amagov, also a transfer from Strikeforce, is coming off a technical knockout win over Keith Berry in August.

Sweden’s Reza “Mad Dog” Madadi (12-3) will meet TUF 12 runner-up Michael “The Menace” Johnson (12-7) in a lightweight bout.

Madadi made his UFC debut in the promotion’s first trip to Sweden, defeating Yoislandy Izquierdo by submission.  In his last outing, Madadi was defeated by Cristiano Marcello by split decision.

Johnson has an impressive three-fight win streak snapped in his last outing, losing to Myles Jury by decision.
