Alistair Overeem says he is “just better” than Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva, and that is why he is going to defeat the big man and move on to challenge Cain Velasquez.
Silva, however, believes that he has a different approach to fighting and training than Overeem that gives him and edge in their fight at UFC 156 on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Silva and Overeem were briefly on the same team, The Blackzilians. Silva, however, knew that one day they would have to fight, and it’s a fight he wanted. So he left.
And now Silva, who sees The Blackzilians as “just a business” for Overeem, trains with friends and people he really cares about. He believes that tight-knit family feel and support will go much further towards preparing him for the fight than Overeem’s approach.
Only stepping in the cage will tell the tale, however, and that will happen on Saturday night at Mandalay Bay.
