For our annual awards, MMAWeekly.com turns to you the readers and fans to choose the best of the best for 2012 including “Submission of the Year.”
There were a lot of great submissions this year in the world of MMA and now we turn to you, our loyal readers and fans to help us select the best for 2012.
Ronda Rousey certainly jumps to the top of the list with her armbar finish of former Strikeforce women’s champion Miesha Tate, and she repeated that performance when she put away Sarah Kaufman later in the year.
Charles Oliveira got creative with his calf-slicer submission to put away Eric Wisely at UFC on Fox 2 all the way back in January.
T.J. Waldburger didn’t do Jake Hecht any favors when he jumped into a nasty armbar to put him away at UFC on FX 2.
Not to be outdone by the Strikeforce women’s champ, Jessica Eye put an exclamation point on her fight and rivalry with Zoila Gurgel, finishing the fight with a standing head and arm choke, something rarely seen in MMA.
There was also Chan Sung Jung AKA The Korean Zombie putting away Dustin Poirier in their fight at UFC on Fuel, which might also garner some Fight of the Year recognition.
