Eduardo Dantas Puts Bantamweight Title on the Line in Bellator 89 Headliner

Bellator 89 PosterBellator bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas is set to put his title on the line against fellow Brazilian Marcos Galvao on Feb. 14 at Bellator 89. The event, according to promotion officials, takes place at the Bojangles’ Coliseum in Charlotte, N.C.

The fight was originally supposed to have taken place during Season 7, but has been delayed due to Dantas suffering a knockout loss on a special fundraising event in Brazil, outside of Bellator’s promotional arm.

Healthy and ready to go, Dantas will instead now face Galvao as part of the upcoming season, which launches in January on Spike TV.

“I feel great, and I’m ready to defend my belt,” said Dantas. “It seems like I’ve been away from the Bellator cage for a while, and I’m ready to face Marcos. I consider Marcos a friend, but all that goes away when we step into the cage. I’m going to show the world why I am the Bellator bantamweight champion.”

Bellator 89 will also feature the opening round of Bellator’s highly anticipated Season 8 middleweight tournament.

Tickets for the event are on sale now and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by visiting The Bojangles’ Coliseum Box Office. The event will broadcast live starting at 10 p.m. EST on Spike TV, as well as in Spanish language on mun2. The preliminary card will be streamed live and free on Spike.com starting at 8 p.m. EST.
