UFC 154 Results: Pablo Garza Dominates Mark Hominick En Route to Unanimous Decision

Mark Hominick and Pablo Garza opened the pay-per-view portion of Saturday night’s UFC 154: St-Pierre vs. Condit at the Bell Centre in Montreal… and they opened the main card in style.

Both men came out aggressive, but Hominick was the first to strike hard, landing a leg kick and body hook combination that dropped Garza. He followed Garza down, but couldn’t find the finish. They returned to the feet, Garza opening up with his striking game on Hominick, mixing up punches, elbows and knees to open a cut below Hominick’s left eye before the horn sounded.

Round two was almost the polar opposite of round one. Garza scored an early takedown and kept the fight on the mat for the rest of the round, brutalizing Hominick with short punches and harsh elbows, working on the cut under Hominick’s left eye, but also adding cuts to his left eyebrow and below his right eye.

Garza did much the same in round three, quickly putting Hominick on the mat again and dominating him with punches and elbows. Hominick escaped to his feet with about a minute left in the fight, but Garza took him down again, not allowing Hominick to get any offense going before the final horn.

Both fighters were in desperate need of a win on Saturday night, but it was Garza that dominated rounds two and three to earn the unanimous nod of the judges, sending Hominick to his fourth consecutive defeat, putting the Canadian’s UFC tenure in jeopardy.
