UFC 153: Silva vs. Bonnar Attendance and Gate

Less than a month ago, UFC 153 was falling apart before company president Dana White’s eyes.

The event saw both its main and co-main event bouts fall apart within hours of each other with UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo and light heavyweight Quinton “Rampage” Jackson both beset by injuries.

UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and his teammate, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, two of the most popular fighters in Brazil, both stepped up to the plate to help keep the event on track, and that they did.

White announced at the UFC 153 post-fight press conference that the HSBC Arena was sold out to the tune of 16,844 fans in attendance with an estimated live gate of somewhere between $2.5 and $2.6 million.

Not a bad draw for a bunch of “fill-in fighters.”

White also revealed that they are working on trying to make a return to Brazil in January for their next event in the MMA mecca, but that its still “in the works,” and had no details to reveal.
