Lightweights Sam Stout, John Makdessi Set to Lock Horns at UFC 154 in Montreal

Canadian lightweights Sam Stout and John Makdessi will clash at UFC 154 on Nov. 22.

The Canadian Press first announced the pairing, and it was later confirmed by promotion officials via Twitter. UFC 154 takes place at the Bell Centre in Montreal and features a welterweight title showdown between reigning champion Georges St. Pierre and interim titlist Carlos Condit. Another key 170-pound scrap pitting Johny Hendricks against Martin Kampmann is also scheduled for the card.

Stout concluded his trilogy with Spencer Fisher in June, earning a unanimous verdict over his longtime rival at UFC on FX 4. “Hands of Stone” also appeared at UFC 142 in January, suffering a decision setback to Thiago Tavares. A renowned striker, the Team Tompkins product also owns notable victories against Joe Lauzon, Matt Wiman and Yves Edwards during his 26-fight career.

Makdessi began his UFC career with wins over Pat Audinwood and Kyle Watson but has struggled in his last two outings. After submitting to a rear-naked choke from Dennis Hallman this past December, “The Bull” was outpointed by Anthony Njokuani at UFC 145 in April. The Tristar Gym representative has finished seven of his nine professional victories by knockout or technical knockout.
