UFC on FX 3 Results: Eddie Wineland Notches First UFC Victory with Brutal KO

Eddie Wineland at UFC 128Eddie Wineland has been searching for his first UFC victory since moving into the Octagon a year and a half ago with the rest of the WEC cast.

He finally got said victory on Friday night at UFC on FX 3 in Southern California, and he did it in devastating fashion.

Wineland and Scott Jorgensen went toe-to-toe over the course of the fight, primarily fighting on their feet. Wineland, being the more technical striker, however, was getting the better of Jorgensen throughout.

Although Jorgensen would land effective punches, Wineland’s superior head movement avoided most of the worst damage, while he launched the harder and more frequent punches. He even dropped Jorgensen to his knees with a jab at one point in the opening stanza.

Jorgensen scored early in round two, opening a massive cut above Wineland’s left eye with a knee to the brow, but Wineland quickly recovered and returned to his boxing attack.

Late in round two, Wineland doubled up on his jab and then launched a right cross that put Jorgensen down and out on his back.

“I been waiting for a long time to talk to you guys,” Wineland said after the fight, referencing his first victory under the UFC banner.

With the first one out of the way, Wineland doesn’t really have any big plans for what’s next. He just wants to keep busy.

“Just keep me fighting. I’m happy when I’m fighting.”
