Jim Hettes Out of UFC on FX 4, Steven Siler Draws Newcomer Joey Gambino

Jim Hettes has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury and will be unable to compete at UFC on FX 4, according to scheduled opponent Steven Siler, who now faces Octagon newcomer Joey Gambino (pictured) at the June 22 event.

Siler’s representatives at AMR Group announced the change on Wednesday, and Siler confirmed the news via Twitter. Promotion officials have not yet officially announced the switch. UFC on FX 4 takes place at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., and will be headlined by a pivotal lightweight scrap between top talents Clay Guida and Gray Maynard.

The reigning Cage Fury Fighting Championships featherweight titlist, Gambino, 23, captured the CFFC belt by knocking out Eddie Fyvie this past October. The undefeated prospect was also successful in his first title defense, earning a unanimous decision over Bellator veteran Kenny Foster in their five-round affair on Feb. 4. Known as “The Raging Warrior,” Gambino finished each of his first eight career victims by either knockout or submission before going the distance with Foster.

A veteran of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 14, Siler has gone 2-0 in his UFC career thus far, outpointing Josh Clopton in the show’s live season finale this past December before taking a unanimous verdict from lanky submission ace Cole Miller at UFC on FX 2 on March 3. The 25-year-old holds 29 professional outings to his credit and has earned 12 submission wins over the course of his seven-year career.
