UFC bantamweight challenger and TUF Live coach Urijah Faber was recently left without a UFC 148 opponent when fellow 135-pound champion Dominick Cruz was forced off of the card with a blown knee.
His situation won’t remain that way much longer, however.
UFC president Dana White will announce a new opponent for Faber on Friday night’s episode of The Ultimate Fighter: Live. The bout will be for the interim UFC bantamweight championship.
“So what’s going to happen is Urijah Faber will, he’s going to fight still. He’s going to fight on the same card,” said White when announcing Cruz’s injury. “Now, I’m looking for the right opponent. The guy who deserves this shot at Urijah Faber.”
The short list of candidates includes Renan Barão, Michael McDonald, and Ivan Menjivar.
Tune in to TUF Live on Friday night for the announcement.
