Joe Lauzon Confirms Fight with Terry Etim at UFC on Fox 4

Joe Lauzon will finally get the chance to fight Terry Etim and it will happen at UFC on Fox 4 in August.

The Massachusetts based fighter on Wednesday announced that he’s signed to face Etim on Aug. 4 inLos Angeles via his personal website JoeLauzon.com.

“I was supposed to fight Terry Etim once upon a time… in Boston at UFC 118. I trained really hard because I knew it was going to be a tough fight… but the fight didn’t happen. Terry pulled out of the fight with a broken rib and I ended up fighting Gabe Ruediger instead. The stars have aligned though and it looks the fight will happen after all,” Lauzon wrote on Wednesday.

Lauzon will return to action for the first time since UFC 144 when he suffered a knockout loss to former WEC champion Anthony Pettis. Prior to that, Lauzon had won his last two fights in a row, including a submission victory over Melvin Guillard.

As Lauzon mentioned in his post, he was slated to face Etim in his hometown of Boston a couple of years ago, but now gets the chance to re-train for him, this time in August in Los Angeles.

“I liked the fight the first time around, but I really like the fight this time around as I have grown tremendously as an athlete and fighter,” said Lauzon.

Terry Etim steps back into the cage after suffering a tough loss of his own during his last fight at UFC 142 in January. Etim was the victim of the likely winner for “Knockout of the Year” when he faced rising star Edson Barboza and was finished with a spinning wheel kick.

Overall, Etim has gone 2-2 in his last four fights and will look to skip back into the winning column when he faces Lauzon in August.
