Episode 7 of ‘The Ultimate Fighter Live’ Attracts 1 Million Viewers to FX

Season 15 of “The Ultimate Fighter” keeps rolling along, but ratings don’t seem to be getting any better.

Despite featuring a first-round lightweight matchup that required a “sudden victory” round, Episode 7 of “TUF Live” drew an average of 1 million viewers to FX on Friday night, according to an industry source.

That figure is in line with ratings for most of the season, which peaked at 1.3 million viewers for the season premiere and hit a low-water mark of 947,000 viewers for its fifth episode. The ratings for Episode 7 tied it with Episode 6 for the second-lowest numbers of the season.

Featuring UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and former WEC featherweight king Urijah Faber as rival coaches, “TUF 15” is the first iteration of the reality series to feature live fights at the end of each show. Due to the live format, taping has been extended from six weeks in previous installments to 13 weeks for the current season. The first 14 seasons of the show aired on Spike TV.

On Friday, Team Cruz’s Vinc Pichel submitted Team Faber’s John Cofer with an arm-triangle choke 44 seconds into the third round. This Friday, Sam Sicilia will square off with Chris Saunders in another first-round matchup.
