Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante vs. Mike Kyle Agreed for Strikeforce Card May 19

A pivotal match-up in the Strikeforce light heavyweight division is headed towards their next show on May 19 as former champion Rafael ‘Feijao’ Cavalcante faces Mike Kyle.

Sources close to the fight confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that verbal agreements are in place for the contest taking place in San Jose in May. The fight was first reported by MMAJunkie.com.

When Feijao and Kyle meet in May it will actually be the second time the two powerful strikers have squared off.

In 2009 just when it appeared Feijao was on a rocket towards the top of the light heavyweight division, he ran into veteran fighter Mike Kyle who brought it all crashing back down to Earth.

Kyle TKO’d Cavalcante in the second round of their bout, and ever since that time the Brazilian has been gunning for a rematch.

Now he’ll get his wish.

Mike Kyle has been dealing with injuries that have kept him sidelined since his last fight in September 2011, and originally he was expected to return in March to face Gegard Mousasi on the Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey card but his body wasn’t quite healed up enough to let the fight happen.

Now Kyle will face Feijao for the second time with the goal being a shot at the vacant Strikeforce light heavyweight title waiting in the wings with a victory.

Feijao vs. Kyle is the latest addition to the growing May 19 card in San Jose, which will be the next major Strikeforce card headed to Showtime.
