A pair of tough lightweights have been added to the UFC 148 undercard as Gleison Tibau will do battle with undefeated prospect Khabib Nurmagomedov.
UFC officials announced the new bout on Thursday.
At a perfect 17-0, Khabib ‘The Eagle’ Nurmagomedov came to the UFC earlier this year to make his debut and impressed everyone with his prowess in the cage.
Nurmagomedov was able to put away former WEC lightweight contender Kamal Shalorus with a third round rear naked choke in January at UFC on FX 1 to make a successful first appearance in the Octagon.
Now he’ll face a UFC veteran with equally dangerous skills.
American Top Team fighter Gleison Tibau has always been considered a true test for any fighter in the UFC’s lightweight division, and recently he’s turned up the heat with three wins in a row.
Overall, Tibau has fifteen fights of experience in the UFC and is one of the most veteran fighters on the lightweight roster.
Now he’ll look to tack another victory to his list of victims as he faces the undefeated Nurmagomedov in July.
