Report: ‘TUF 11’ Contestants Court McGee and Nick Ring to Collide at UFC 149 in Calgary

Former “Ultimate Fighter 11” cast mates Court McGee and Nick Ring will reportedly square off in a middleweight bout at UFC 149.

MMAJunkie.com first reported the pairing on Tuesday afternoon. The Canadian event takes place on July 21 at the Scotiabank Saddledome and marks the promotion’s first-ever trip to Calgary, Alberta. Featherweight champion Jose Aldo is expected to headline UFC 149, but an opponent has not yet been named for the Nova Uniao representative.

Ring earned a closely-contested majority decision over McGee in a first-round matchup on “TUF 11,” but McGee would later return to the show as a replacement when Rich Attonito broke his hand. The two were set to rematch in the quarterfinals, but Ring was forced to withdraw from the contest due to an injured knee, and McGee went on to win the competition.

McGee recently had an eight-fight winning streak stopped when he lost a unanimous decision to Constantinos Philippou at UFC on FX 2, his first setback since falling to Jeremy Horn in 2007. “The Crusher” was triumphant in his first three Octagon appearances, taking victories over Kris McCray, Ryan Jensen and Dongi Yang to begin his UFC career.

Ring suffered his first loss in 13 professional fights at UFC 135, falling to converted middleweight Tim Boetsch via unanimous decision. A Calgary native, Ring defeated Riki Fukuda and James Head in his first two outings with the UFC.
