UFC on Fuel TV 1 Bonuses: Ellenberger, Sanchez, Menjivar, Miocic Earn $50,000

Four men walked away from UFC on Fuel TV 1 with an extra $50,000 on Wednesday night, as Jake Ellenberger, Diego Sanchez, Stipe Miocic and Ivan Menjivar each took home post-fight bonuses.

Ellenberger (Pictured, file photo) and Sanchez were awarded “Fight of the Night” for their exciting welterweight headliner at the Omaha Civic Auditorium in Omaha, Neb., while Miocic and Menjivar took home “Knockout of the Night” and “Submission of the Night” honors, respectively.

Ellenberger and Sanchez left it all in the cage in the evening’s main event, much to the delight of the spectators in attendance. While Ellenberger controlled the first two rounds with superior standup, Sanchez came on strong in round three, taking the back of “The Juggernaut” and threatening to end the fight with ground-and-pound and a rear-naked choke. Sanchez could not find the finish, however, and Ellenberger earned scores of 29-28 across the board.

Highly touted heavyweight prospect Miocic impressed in his sophomore Octagon effort, weathering an early flurry from previously unbeaten Philip De Fries and retaliating with a wicked pair of right straights to finish the fight in just 43 seconds.

Menjivar extended his winning streak to three with his first-round submission victory over John Albert. Though the “Ultimate Fighter” Season 14 competitor appeared to hurt Menjivar with a hard combination midway through the frame, the cagey veteran survived to take Albert’s back and force the tap out via rear-naked choke.
