Mike Kyle Injured and Out of Strikeforce Fight with Gegard Mousasi

Mike Kyle‘s hope to secure a Strikeforce light heavyweight title shot will have to wait a little longer.

The San Jose, Calif., based fighter has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming bout against Gegard Mousasi at Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey due to injury.

Sources close to the fighter confirmed his withdrawal from the card to MMAWeekly.com on Monday. MMAJunkie.com first reported the change.

Kyle was set to face Mousasi as the co-main event for the Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey fight card, with the winner almost assuredly fighting for the currently vacant light heavyweight title in their next fight.

This now leaves a void at the top of the card and Mousasi without an opponent.

Former light heavyweight champion Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal is currently under suspension after testing positive for performance enhancers after his win over Lorenz Larkin in January.

The only other top name that could be a viable option would be Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante, who is also a former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion.

At this time however, Strikeforce has yet to make any announcement about the move or even if Mousasi will remain on the card.
