Sherdog.com confirmed the matchup with Tachi Palace Entertainment Coordinator Jeremy Luchau on Tuesday. Jenkins’ original opponent, Chris Huerta, was forced to withdraw from the contest due to a stomach injury.
Headlined by a flyweight title bout pitting champion Ian McCall against short-notice replacement Josh Rave, TPF 11 “Redemption” goes down Dec. 2 at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif., and streams live on Sherdog.com.
“There [aren’t] very many people out there eager to fight Bubba Jenkins,” Luchau told Sherdog.com. “I was a little nervous we might not fight an opponent until I received a call on Jason Williams. I had a feeling if anyone was going to step to the plate to fight him locally, it would be someone like Williams, who has a rich wrestling background and Clovis High.”
A former wrestler at Iowa Central Community College, Williams also placed thrice in the California state tournament while in high school, finishing twice as runner-up.
The 2011 NCAA Division I champion at 157 pounds, Jenkins (Pictured) wrestled at Penn State University for three years before transferring to Arizona State University for his senior season. Jenkins earned a 21-3 record during his championship run and finished his collegiate wrestling career with a record of 94-24.
