Newcomer will meet pioneer on Dec. 3, as the UFC announced Friday that Tony Ferguson will square off with Yves Edwards at “The Ultimate Fighter 14” finale.

Featuring a pivotal middleweight confrontation between UFC stalwart Michael Bisping and former Strikeforce talent Jason Miller, the event will emanate from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Bisping and Miller coached opposite teams on the 14th installment of the reality series, which marks the last iteration to be seen on Spike TV before the program is moved to FX in 2012.

Ferguson is no stranger to the “TUF” format, as “El Cucuy” won Season 13 of the show, knocking out Ramsey Nijem in the first round of their June 4 scrap. The lightweight has not lost since 2009, when he suffered a submission defeat to Jamie Toney. Ferguson, 27, owns eight of his 12 career wins by knockout.

Representing the old guard of MMA, Edwards made his pro debut in 1997. The 35-year-old entered the Octagon for the first time in 2001, dropping a majority decision to Matt Serra at UFC 33. A veteran of 59 pro fights, the inventor of “thugjitsu” began his most recent run with the world’s largest promotion just over one year ago, racking up a 3-1 record in his four appearances. Most recently, Edwards knocked out Rafaello Oliveira on Oct. 1, finishing the Brazilian with punches in the second round of their UFC Live 6 clash.
