MFC Inks Deal with TSN2 in Canada

Canadian promotion Maximum Fighting Championship on Friday announced that it has signed a one-year broadcast deal with The Sports Network, Canada’s No. 1 sports channel.

MFC events will air via tape delay on TSN2 within 30 days of the event date, according to the promotion’s official release.

“There isn’t a bigger name in Canadian sports broadcasting than TSN, and having the Maximum Fighting Championship on TSN2 is a tremendously important step in our future plans,” said MFC owner Mark Pavelich. “Being a part of the broadcast lineup is massive progression for the MFC. We are particularly excited that our growing fan base in Ontario and Quebec will now be able to see MFC events on Bell, Cogeco and Rogers.”

The MFC renewed its live broadcast partnership with HDNet in June, inking a new, five-year deal with the high-definition cable and satellite station. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, the promotion will return to HDNet on Friday with MFC 31, as Ryan Jimmo defends his light heavyweight title against UFC veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.

Launched in 1984, TSN is owned by Bell Media and ESPN. The network broadcasts a variety of live sporting events, including NFL and NHL games, as well as both original TSN and ESPN programming.
