Stirkeforce 145-pound women’s champion Cris ‘Cyborg’ Santos has re-signed with the promotion according to her management team.
Santos announced the news via her website on Wednesday.
There were no details regarding the length of time or amount of fights on the new deal, but the release stated they were hoping to have a fight for Santos soon.
It’s been over a year since Santos stepped foot in the Strikeforce cage to defend her title. In her last defense, Santos blasted through Jan Finney to move to 4-0 in the promotion.
While Santos’ resigning is good news for the Brazilian and for women’s MMA, the only downside is that Strikeforce seemingly still has no viable opponents for her to face.
In the interim of her absence, Strikeforce has signed and continued to build several women’s fighters, but it doesn’t appear any major contenders have emerged for Santos at 145 pounds.
MMAWeekly.com will have more information on Santos’ next fight when it becomes available.
