UFC on Versus 5 Hits $539,000 Gate With 6,751 in Attendance

UFC on Versus 5: Hardy vs. Lytle drew a $539,000 gate with 6,751 people in attendance. The event took place on Sunday night at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee and was broadcast live on Versus.

The event’s draw was nearly that of the last UFC on Versus card, which drew 7,792 spectators and $562,310 gate with a main event featuring heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Pat Barry.

The UFC on Versus 5 main event featured a welterweight bout between heavy hitters Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy and Chris “Lights Out” Lytle. A day before the fight, Lytle announced his intention to retire after the bout and went out on a high note, submitting Hardy in the final round of their affair.

The next UFC on Versus event is scheduled to take place on Oct. 1 and features a first for Versus cards. Bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz is set to take on challenger Demetrious Johnson in a title fight for fans to watch without having to purchase a pay-per-view. This a value fans don’t get very often.

The next pay-per-view card for the promotion is UFC: Rio, which takes place on Aug. 27 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It will be the first time the UFC invades Brazil since 1998 and tremendous gate and attendance totals are anticipated.
