It appears that Kevin Ferguson -- known to most as “Kimbo Slice” -- will finally make his long-rumored debut in professional boxing Aug. 13.

Ferguson, 37, will fight in a four-round headlining attraction against a to-be-named opponent at the Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla. The show will be promoted by Gary Shaw Productions and Tony Holden Promotions. The remainder of the card, as well as any broadcast plans, have yet to be announced by the promoters.

Appearing in a series of backyard bare-knuckle fights that quickly gained popularity over the Internet, Ferguson used his fame to begin a career in mixed martial arts. Signing with the now-defunct EliteXC promotion, which was run by Shaw, Ferguson racked up a 3-0 record in the cage by battering the likes of Bo Cantrell, David “Tank” Abbott, and James Thompson. The fighter hit a snag in 2008, however, when he was knocked out by late-replacement Seth Petruzelli in just 14 seconds. EliteXC folded later that year.

He would then join the cast of “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 10, falling in his first bout on the show to former International Fight League champion Roy Nelson. The native Bahamanian would win his first official Octagon contest in 2009, outpointing Houston Alexander in a three-round affair. Ferguson's final UFC and MMA appearance would result in defeat, as he was stopped by Matt Mitrione at UFC 113 in May 2010.
