Vancouver Commission Enlists Anti-Doping Body for UFC 131

The Vancouver Athletic Commission announced Tuesday that it will cooperate with the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sports to implement anti-doping testing for UFC 131.

According to the VAC's release on Tuesday, the CCES administers Canada's doping control program and has worked with the World Anti-Doping Agency since 1995. As outlined in the statement, the CCES will be responsible for administering sample collection services for the event. Additionally, the sample collection policies will adhere to WADA's 'International Standard for Testing' in respect of in-commission testing."

After samples are collected, they will be securely delivered to Institut Armand Frappier, a WADA-affiliated laboratory in Laval, Quebec. According to the release, collected samples will be tested for all substances on WADA's prohibited list.

Headlined by a pivotal heavyweight confrontation between Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin, UFC 131 goes down June 11 from Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The event will also feature the featherweight debut of former two-time lightweight title challenger Kenny Florian, as “Ken-Flo” squares off with Diego Nunes in the co-main event.
