UFC 130 Medical Suspensions: 5 Fighters Out Up To 6 Months

Five fighters were handed six-month medical suspensions by the Nevada State Athletic Commission Tuesday following Saturday’s UFC 130 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

UFC 130 competitors Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Frank Mir, Brian Stann, Jorge Santiago and Michael McDonald were each informed that their injuries may require them to sit out until Nov. 25. However, each may also be cleared early by a physician. Regardless, Jackson, Mir and Stann each must sit out at least one month, even if cleared by a doctor.

Following his main event decision win over Matt Hamill, Jackson explained that he had entered the bout with a fracture in his left hand. The former UFC light heavyweight champ must now undergo an X-ray, and if the test confirms Jackson’s diagnosis, “Rampage” must comply with the NSAC’s suspension.

According to the NSAC, Mir injured the left side of his ribs, while Stann suffered an injury to his right thumb. Santiago had his left orbital bone fractured by Stann in their bout, and McDonald exited his preliminary contest with a hurt left shoulder.
