Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum Prelims and Weigh-ins to Air Live on HDNet

The second half of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix quarterfinal bracket is set to unfold on June 18 in Dallas. Add to that a solid preliminary fight card and what else could you ask for? How about the opportunity to watch all of the bouts, top to bottom?

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker on Saturday announced that not only will the “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum” main card – featuring Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum and Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers – air on Showtime, but HDNet will carry the preliminary portion of the card on its network, just as it did with the opening round of the Grand Prix in February.

The preliminary portion of the fight card features K.J. Noons vs. Jorge Masvidal in a bout that is expected to determine the number one contender to Strikeforce lightweight champion Gilbert Melendez. Other bouts include Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante vs. Justin Wilcox, Julie Kedzie vs. Amanda Nunes, and Magno Almeida vs. Conor Huen.

Other bouts slated for the HDNet broadcast include Amanda Nunes vs. Julie Kedzie, Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante vs. Justin Wilcox, and Conor Huen vs. Magno Almeida.

HDNet will also carry a special weigh-in broadcast on Friday, including comprehensive feature coverage on many of the fighters.
