The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Monday added a welterweight showdown to the UFC 133 fight card planned for Aug. 6 in Philadelphia.

“Welterweight standouts Mike ‘Quicksand’ Pyle and Rory ‘The Water Boy’ MacDonald have verbally agreed to fight at UFC 133 in Philadelphia,” said UFC president Dana White.

Pyle (21-7-1) has been around the block a few times, fighting for most of the top promotions in the world at one time or another. He got off to a rocky start when he was finally called to the Octagon losing two of his first three fights.

He has since reeled off three straight victories, handing Englishman John Hathaway his first defeat, and sending Ricardo Almeida into retirement.

MacDonald (11-1), at 21 years of age, is 14 years younger than Pyle, but has accomplished a great amount of success, having fought professionally for six years already.

Rising through the ranks of King of the Cage, MacDonald is 2-1 in the Octagon. He fell short to Top 10 welterweight Carlos Condit, despite getting off to a strong start. MacDonald bounced back at UFC 129 with a dominant victory over Nate Diaz, tossing him all over the cage floor.

A light heavyweight bout between former champion Rashad Evans and rising contender Phil Davis is currently slated to headline the UFC 133 fight card in Philly.
