Schindler Joins Bellator’s ‘Summer Series’ Featherweight Draw

Once-beaten featherweight Adam Schindler will participate in the upcoming Bellator Fighting Championships “Summer Series” 145-pound tournament, the promotion announced on Friday.

A Strikeforce veteran, Schindler (Pictured; file photo) joins former lightweight title challenger Pat Curran, as well as top imports Marlon Sandro and Ronnie Mann in the tournament, which begins June 25 at Bellator 46 and spans three shows over the summer. The winner of the tournament -- which airs live on MTV2 -- will receive $100,000 in total pay and a shot a reigning 145-pound champion Joe Warren.

Schindler served for nearly eight years in the United States Air Force following a decorated high school wrestling career. The West Virginia native began his professional MMA career in 2008, winning his first three bouts before tasting defeat for the only time.

“I’m just ready to get in that cage and win,” Schindler said. “This is the time where I take the step from everyone around me knowing how good I am to everyone seeing how good I am all across the country. This is my chance to shine.”

The fighter made his Bellator debut 11 months ago, outpointing Brian Melancon in a unanimous verdict. The 28-year-old racked up two more victories after that fight, bringing his winning streak to nine heading into Bellator’s single-elimination tournament.

“Adam was impressive at Bellator 20, and he makes a great addition to this stacked featherweight tournament,” said Bellator head Bjorn Rebney. “Our Summer Series shows are going to be great, and I can’t wait to kick things off at the Seminole Hard Rock [Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla.] on June 25.”
